Boys’ Brigade is a non-denomination and international Christian uniformed organisation for boys aged from 5 to 18 years. It started on 4th October 1883 in Glasgow Scotland. Our world patron is Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. It aims at the all-round development of each boy. Educational physical spiritual social. Boys are able to earn badges for different skills achieved. Starting from a simple scheme the programme develops into a wider range of work including such challenges as the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. The highest award Brigade offers is the Queen’s Badge.

Especially in No. 2 Seciton (12-18 years) young men have the opportunity to develop leadership skills. Responsibility is given to lead small groups during Brigade activities including camps and expeditions.

The uniform encourages a sense of belonging and responsibility and helps to create and maintain discipline and self-respect. It helps prevent barriers which can arise because of varying economic and social backgrounds.

Boys’ Brigade objective: “The advancement of Christ’s Kingdom among boys and the promotion of habits of obedience reverence discipline self-respect and all that tends towards a true Christian manliness.”

Boys’ Brigade purpose statement: “The purpose of The Boys’ Brigade in Australia is to provide in cooperation with the local church a supportive Christian community for boys and young men to assist in their Christian growth balanced personal development and leadership training and to assist the church reaching out into the community.”
