Good news!!

A new link proposed between Alderley railway station through the North West Transport Corridor to Carseldine then on a route to be determined through to Strathpine linking up with the rail north.

This will also make it possible to connect across to Scarborough/Redcliffe once the rail is built from there to Petrie. A trip to the beach for fish and chips!

This increases options for movement north without going into Bowen Hills to change to a connection north.

Up to 3 new stations would be proposed for discussion in the model (Bridgeman Downs Stafford Heights and Everton Park. The line would be high-frequency with trains every 15 minutes.

The proposal is for a double track with passing loops at stations for express trains and tunnels in some places.

A train carrying 750 people could eliminate 4km of traffic backlog according to Robert Dow of Rail Back on Track.

Premier Anna Bligh announced the proposal as part of a much bigger transport blueprint. The section through the Trouts Rd corridor between Stafford and Aspley has a price ticket of $2 billion and will ease pressure on the Caboolture line and increase public transport in the north.

Further down the path we would like to see east-west connections from Ferny Grove across through Arana Hills and along Rode Rd past Prince Charles Hospital to Chermside given high priority
