The solar panels themselves would be least likely to suffer damage. Wiring circuit breakers and inverters are more likely to have suffered from water damage. If any of these parts have been submerged inspection and re-certification should be regarded as mandatory.

Any electrical equipment or wiring which may have suffered from water damage due to flooding (including solar power equipment) must not be powered up at all and needs to be inspected by a CEC accredited electrician tested and certified as being safe before being used.

If another electrician conducts a safety inspection for you (ie – an insurance company approved inspector) the re-certification should be sent to our branch (the firm who supplied the panels) to maintain with your installation records. Please be aware this needs to be an approved CEC accredited electrician to work on a PV system.
