POINT TO PROVE…PETITION FOR GO CARD SUPPORT
LOCAL MP SUPPORTS GO-CARD TOP-UP PETITION

Ferny Grove QLD 23rd January 2013 – Member for Ferny Grove Dale Shuttleworth has helped launch a petition for better access to Go-Card top up facilities in the local community with petitioners having until March 4th to sign online or in person.

Dale Shuttleworth said better access to top-up facilities were one of the most consistent concerns raised by constituents since taking office in March 2012.

“Local business and commuters have been regularly telling me of the need for better access to these types of facilities in our community.” Dale Shuttleworth said.

The company contracted to manage the Go-Card System have previously advised that a number of considerations are taken into account including travel patterns current access and identified customer demand.

“I feel one of the best ways to demonstrate the demand exists will be via this petition.” he said.

“If the petition successful the potential benefits to the community not only in terms of convenience but also safety will be immense” Dale Shuttleworth said

Mr Shuttleworth believes the current system caters almost exclusively for the train commuters while the elderly students and young families that utilise the Translink bus services are inconvenienced greatly through the lack of top-up facilities outside the rail network.

“Within 600 metres of the Ferny Grove newsagency there are three school communities and the Arana Hills newsagency also serves areas including the Grovely Tafe & Grovely State School St Williams catholic school the PCYC & Leagues club.”

Dale Shuttleworth also acknowledged Ferny Grove newsagency manager Pradip Kochhar for his efforts campaigning for improved access to GoCard facilities in the community and the NewsXpress Arana Hills team for their assistance.
