I think the premise of this article is wrong in the sense that it suggests that if we kept temperature rises to under 2degrees C we could stop our journey down the climate change slide. It is already too late – having destabilised the state of our global climate we are now on an inevitable ride the whole way.

However it is interesting to know who the key drivers are – the fossil fuel company CEOs. Interesting to understand that their current share price already reflects all future carbon fuels extracted and burned with 5 times increases in CO2 output.

But basically it doesn’t matter if you are us or the CEO of a fossil fuel company. We’re all on the same global climate change journey together. The big media barrons. The politicians. Everyone and every species together.

It actually won’t make a blind bit of difference trying to stop it except to our sense of ethics maybe maybe not.

The question I am asking myself now is: What does matter now?

It doesn’t matter if one of us produces more CO2 emissions than another of us. It doesn’t matter if governments have carbon taxes or don’t have carbon taxes. It won’t ‘save’ the climate. We cannot reverse the damage and return to a stable state. That time is past. It doesn’t matter if we are a ‘believer’ or a ‘denier’ or a ‘skeptic’ or whatever. It doesn’t matter what we did in the past. We simply didn’t know and we didn’t set out to destablize the global climate. Some will party like there is no tomorrow. Some will spend time with family and community. It is the choice we make on how to spend now while we are all on the journey.
