The Kedron Brook bikeway stage 3 project is part of Lord Mayor Campbell Newman’s commitment for Council to provide $100 million of new bikeway infrastructure over four years.

The project will provide an important missing link between Lansvale Street (Teralba Park) Mitchelton to the existing pathway on Woking Street Keperra that connects Oxford Grove Park. When complete stage 3 of the Kedron Brook bikeway will connect pedestrians cyclists and other active transport users throughout the northern suburbs of Brisbane from Keperra to Shorncliffe.

The Kedron Brook bikeway stage 3 will deliver 1.4km of combined off-road pathways and on-road bicycle awareness zones in Mitchelton. Construction started in June 2010 and should be complete by late September 2010 weather permitting.

Council is currently exploring options to further extend the Kedron Brook bikeway between Keperra and Ferny Grove close to the alignment of the railway line. Investigations are underway with a feasibility study to be carried out on providing an underpass at the railway line on Dawson Parade for pedestrian and cyclist safety.

Council is also working with the QLD Government to provide a connection between the Kedron Brook Bikeway at Nundah and the new Gateway Bridge cycle path.
