Met with the Brisbane North Food Relief Network today and after the meeting there was a tour of the Reach Out Community and Family Care food distribution facilities. All were most interested. About 100 families are coming there daily to purchase low-cost food hampers.

Contacted a number of locals to find out if they knew about it. One did one didn’t.

There is also a food hamper program operating through Burnie Brae big-time. It would be good to have something similar here if it is felt necessary.

We’ll do a thorough search locally for who the outlets are providing food relief and make sure their details are all on the Brisbane North Food Relief Network email distribution list.

The key contact is Deb Blakley the Community Nutritionist for the Metro North Health District. She also e-distributes the Food for Communities Newsletter.
