LNP candidates Dale & Tim targets of Plan C?

The local LNP candidates (Dale Shuttleworth for Ferny Grove and Tim Mander for Everton) are truly local. They’ve lived around here a long time and been deeply involved in the local community for a long time.

Now there is a report in today’s Sunday Mail that the LNP has a Plan C and it involves these candidates. Plan C is if Campbell Newman loses Ashgrove to sitting Labor MP Kate Jones. The report says there is a hit list of 6 (including Tim Mander and Dale Shuttleworth) who if they have won in the election would be asked to immediately vacate a seat to call an immediate follow-up by-election in the shortest possible time with Campbell Newman as the candidate.

LNP says there is no Plan C – that it comes from the Labor Party. Labor denies it absolutely and says it is an LNP leak.

What really disturbs me is that two genuinely local dedicated candidates are potentially in line to be treated as disposable objects. If either or both of these men win in the coming election it will be because of their tireless focus on local and their abundant evident decency.

I truly hope that if they win in Everton and Ferny Grove and Campbell Newman loses Ashgrove that they have the courage to say a firm and definite “No Way” to any LNP request to step down for Campbell Newman. Don’t let this happen to our community. We are worth much much more than that. If Plan C has any truth in it how dare they.
