The Enoggera Ward Council election in 2008 was very close. Andrew Wines (Lib) won is by 338 votes (0.64%) out of a total of 22358 votes.

There were 347 informal votes.

The Greens got 2517 votes which were distributed as 784 to ALP and 242 to Liberal.

The Enoggera Ward is a long skinny ward with the Electorate Office at the Alderley end of the Ward and The Grove suburbs of Upper Kedron Ferny Grove and Keperra at the other end of the Ward.

The votes from booths in The Grove almost certainly determined the outcome of the election.
Polling in The Grove brought about 79 more votes for the Liberal candidate than the Ward average.
Polling in The Grove brought about 51 more votes for the ALP candidate than the Ward average.

The Greens preferences would have added about 64 votes to Liberal and 198 votes to the ALP – for both parties this is less than the Ward average.

Once The Greens preferences were distributed the 4 booths in The Grove delivered about 199 of the 338 winning votes to the Liberal candidate (58% of the winning votes).
