This whole business of charging $3000 to $22000 for access to Campbell Newman has got me thinking.
What expectations are being set up? What do these businesses expect to get for this?
More importantly what can they expect that isn’t something that every local citizen and business should be able to expect from their politicians AT NO CHARGE?
I got out the the Oxford Universal Dictionary and looked up the definition of the word graft.
Definition: Graft: A means of making illicit profit; dishonest gains or illicit profits esp. in connexion with political or municipal business.
Graft rings alarm bells big time. It is wrong. It feels tremendously disempowering of the citizenship and the electorate.
Presumably it means that if we don’t or can’t pay $3000 to $22000 then we miss out on access and whatever that access is expected to bring.
Not democracy.
