The Moreton Bay Ratepayers Action Group Pine Rivers South branch has collected over 2600 signatures to lobby the Local Government Minister Paul Lucas to refer their case to move from Moreton Bay Regional Council to Brisbane City Council to the Local Government Change Commission. Geoff Wilson MP is sponsoring the petition to be tabled and presented to Parliament in the last week of November. Minister Wilson said her would also write to Mr Lucas and ask him to consider the residents’ request. “I would like the boundary change commission to provide extensive consultation with residents of the Hills District.”
Apparently residents of Arana Hills can call any resident of the Brisbane City Council area for the cost of an untimed local call but Caboolture in the Moreton Bay Regional Council is a long distance timed call.
