A very warm current of water (34degrees C which is 4degrees C above average) is moving from around the African coast around Somalia across to Indonesia and through the Straits into the rich coral areas there then through across the top of Australia into the Coral Sea of Far North Queensland. Expected to arrive at the Great Barrier Reef area in January to February. Huge areas of coral bleaching have occurred where it has hit so far.
