Listened to a talk on ABC RN today and they discussed oil from algae.
Apparently the sums have been done and unfortunately it doesn’t add up. The final stages of turning the algae into oil take three times the energy produced.
If the energy used to turn it into oil is nuclear the carbon emissions come down.
Would need to look into the details but it is a shame.
