Window film
How imaginative are you at coming up with ways to reduce your power bill without compromising your lifestyle and comfort?

One approach that we have a high regard for is to invest up front in systems which then reduce consumption for the rest of your life.

This week we started such an investment by taking a trip to hardware store and buying reflective film for our kitchen window. Now this film is expensive. And it is quite a big job to instal. Doing one window at a time one per budget period makes a lot of sense. No need to rush at this stuff. 2 metres of window film cost us $31.90 and we used most of it for the kitchen window.

The aim is to continue to protect the house from the hottest afternoon sun without the need for air-conditioners or fans.

These measures do seem to work well. Comfortable temperatures are achieved and there is no need for expensive power bills. And we’re doing our bit for the planet!
