Brisbane Residents United is about local leadership for local development. It was launched on Monday 21st March to help the groups’ 45 member groups address issues of concern in their areas. The steering committee comprises members of the Mitchelton Action Group (MAG) the Walter Taylor South Action Group West End Community Association and the Concerned Residents Against Milton’s Excessive Developments. The Gaythorne and Mitchelton Urban Taskforce has also joined.

One of the founding committee is Paul Poulus of the Mitchelton Action Group. He says: “Too often people’s aspirations for their neighbourhoods are being whittled away in city council ‘relaxations’ or State Government centralised planning decisions. This is creating uncertainty and undermining public confidence.”
