On Saturday evening 9 January 2011 the Kedron Brook Catchment Branch held its second glider survey along Cedar Creek. This covered much the same territory as the previous survey with the addition of the trees around the perimeter of the Ferny Grove High School oval.

On this occasion no gliders were spotted. I imagine they were nestling in dry tree hollows and avoiding the rain. Several ring-tailed possums were seen but not as many as last time.

The evening concluded with the intrepid surveyors gathering around a welcome hot drink and home-baked cookies.

In the absence of any wonderful wildlife pictures of cute furry marsupials we’ll have to make do with a photo of the bedraggled surveyors.

General consensus was. “An unexpectedly enjoyable way to spend a wet Saturday night”.
