It is part of the LNP policy platform that they are taking to the State election to abolish the Mineral Resources Rent Tax (if they get a chance).

83% of mining companies are foreign owned and the profits end up overseas. Some mining executives even come out publicly and say they never pay tax.
Infrastructure like rail roads and ports is getting paid for by us.
Our dollar is driven up and productivity down by the mining industry and this directly affects all other Australian industries’ profitability.
Australia’s two-speed economy is because of the mining industry and there are very few mechanisms for Australia Queensland us to get anything back from the mining tsunami that is sweeping across our farmlands great underground aquifers and outback towns.
Australia’s mineral resources are being shipped out at a fantastic rate and we are being left with holes in the ground and a lot of damage.
Many of the people getting work in mining are brought in from overseas adding to our already unmanageable population growth.
We aren’t training our own people in the skills needed for jobs to anywhere near a sufficient degree.

So why exactly would the LNP NOT want Australia to get anything back from these (mainly foreign-owned) mining companies for Australia???
