Senator Bob Brown said that the Greens want a principled approach to [industry ] compensation all the way through. Gifting big corporations at the expense of the taxpayer is not something we want to encourage. He cited a European study that found trade exposed industries had been ‘alarmist’ in the run-up to the introduction of a European trading scheme but had been found to have suffered negligible loss in the post-implementation period.
