Pawpaw

Our pawpaws work well with a compost heap at their base where all the lawn clippings go and kitchen scraps unsuitable for worms (but no meat scraps). On the other side of them is another compost heap for woody offcuts.

Pawpaws are heavy feeders. Adequate supplies of nitrogen and potassium NB.

Light applications of organic fertilisers and compost at regular intervals.

Apply a yearly appliication of dolomite lime.

Excessive dolomite can cause fruit to develop hard lumps as a result of boron deficiency.

One teaspoon of boron each year no more.

Regular use of seaweed sprays on the foliage and developing fruit to combat fungal diseases.
