Just talking to a man at the Ferny Grove markets. He and his wife are diabetics and have been on a search for ‘what works’. His doctor told him to lose ?10 kilos in 12 months and when he only managed to lose 4 kilos in the 12 months he says his doctor ‘sacked’ him.

But they are both finding things that are helping get their blood sugar readings down a long way from what they were.

1. Allergy tests to identify allergies and then stop eating the foods that show up as allergic to. Reckons this resulted in a very big drop in blood sugar readings.

2. Moved from ordinary bread to sour-dough bread from Coles and reckons he’s lost ?6 kilos effortlessly in a ?couple of weeks.

We talked about carbohydrates causing us to be fat. He immediately commented that even Low GI carbohydrates are full of sugars.

I found the conversation very useful. I’ve certainly heard a lot of good things about sour-dough bread.
