Dear {usertag:name}
Plans for our Clean Up Australia Day site at Leslie Patrick Park are progressing well.
The event has been publicised in (BCC) Councillor Andrews Wines’ newsletter and is being strongly supported by Moreton Bay Regional Council.
MBRC support includes a lot of additional equipment assistance signage and information together with a budget for catering (Sausage Sizzle).
Golden Valley Keperra Lions Club are considering participating by adding some volunteers and providing a Barbecue but this has yet to be confirmed.
There are several key organisational roles and it would be great to have these filled on the day by Transition The Grove members. If you can help even just for an hour it would be greatly appreciated. Please contact me on 07 3851 1016 SMS to 0432 478 703. or email to john@tennock.com I will put together a roster.
For example:
Setting Up: We will erect our marquee banner and other signage in a visible location and set up facilities for sending out volunteers properly equipped. Early help with setup from 6:30am would be appreciated.
Volunter Registrations: All volunteers MUST be registered to be covered by Clean Up Australia Day insurance. The best way to ensure this is to have a dedicated person filling this role.
Safety Guide: Volunteer safety is of paramount importance. Someone needs to check that all volunteers are properly briefed and have appropriate safety equipment (covered footwear gloves hat sun-block safety instructions).
Flying Squad: Volunteers are instructed only to pick up safe and accessible rubbish. Heavy or dangerous items must be recorded accurately and reported to the council who will collect them during the following week. Tongs and a Sharps Container are provided for safe handling of needles and syringes. We need a ‘Flying Squad’ to respond to calls from volunteers who might find any of these items and deal with them appropriately.
Even if you can’t take part in one of these vital roles I hope you will come along and join in the clean up.
More details about the event here.
Regards
John Tennock
