I am the Katter’s Australian Party candidate for the electorate of condamine. Our party along with the greens are the only political entities committed to reigning in the expansion of this potential deadly industry and placing strong restrictions on mining activities in the darling downs region. Our policy is clear in its intent and contains 2 key elements that set us apart from the until now major political parties. They are (1) an immediate 12 month moratorium on all new and proposed CSG mining projects and (2) restoration of the farmer’s right to say ‘NO’ to mining companies entry onto their property. Our stance regarding the preservation of the most valuable agricultural land in this country is strong and our resolve to ensure protection of our food security from destructive mining greedy politicians and foreign ownership is without waver. I would like to support your mission to maintain pressure on the relevant groups that would jeopardize our agricultural quality by pressing these issues during the upcoming state election campaign. My belief is that it is government that has failed the people by allowing this current situation to exist and prosper. Mining companies are merely going about their business as usual; delivering profits to their shareholders. They are in it for profit and much of that is going overseas. It is government that has the great and noble duty to its people to protect and place strong limitations on the companies that would seek to wreak havoc upon our land. They have until now simply wiped their hands of the matter; attempting to give the impression that they are on the side of the farmer and landowner and that they too are struggling with the mining companies. This is balderdash. They have the power to take a stand. They have the right to stop the mining if they choose. We elect them to protect us and our sovereignty and it is time that they are called to account for their actions of the past and their intentions for the future. It is my hope that the voters in affected areas will see that by voting for either liberal or labor they will continue to see mining gather destructive pace at the expense of our food supply and the lives of rural Queensland. The Australian Party provides a real and viable alternative to these parties and with the support of groups such as yourself friends of Felton lock the gate six degrees etc. we might be able to exact the change so desperately and urgently needed. If I can be of any assistance in getting the message out there to the electorate please don’t hesitate contacting me. I would welcome any opportunity to meet with you and/or your representatives regarding action needed.

Regards
