The Hills Community Garden Group members spent a most interesting afternoon on Saturday 7th January watching Simon of MFT Earthmoving on his excavator establishing a large flat area for the community garden to be set up.
Cr Brian Battersby had already arranged to have two free truckloads of ‘fill’ dumped nearby ready for use in creating the flat area. Thank you Brian yet again!
Simon worked on a volunteer basis and was a marvel to watch as he sculpted firmed down and leveled the site for over two hours. This is highly skilled work with a powerful machine. Suffice to say we are all absolutely delighted and grateful for the terrific job Simon has done.
The rest of us got on with pruning fruit trees and shifting some existing beds to temporary storage so they can be reused in their new spots.

Steve Jones will be donating earth to go in raised garden beds. In the meantime we are organising some gravel to go on top of the fill and then getting bed set up.
