Oh frabjous day! Kalloo Kallay!
As reported this has bipartisan support and the Productivity Commission’s too.
It looks set to go ahead. Funding for helping people with severe disabilities and their carers will roughly double to $13.5 billion a year. It will be introduced gradually to be fully operational in 7 years. It is a Medicare-like scheme. Applies to all Australians. Covers aidesmodificationsrespite appliances personal care domestic assistance transport assistance therapies. Doesn’t cover income replacement. Expected to cover 410000 people. Also recommended is a separate National Injury Insurance Scheme (no-fault insurance for catastrophic injury brain and spine).
Who says there’s no good news! I also got out the hard Sudoku first up and got the 9-letter word in the Jumble-word straight up. And petrol prices are down. And mortgage interest rates might fall. And the good side of the UK community has responded to the UK riots by using social media to rally to clean it up and defend their communities @riotcleanup
Now all we need is a basic cover national dental scheme and no fault public liability cover for ordinary Australians doing ordinary things in the community then Australia will be paradise!
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) will be the 5th pillar. The other 4 we already enjoy are minimum wages age pensions compulsory superannuation and Medicare.
