The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare reports that co-payments and other out-of-pocket costs are the fastest growing component of health costs. During the past decade per person out-of-pocket health funding grew 4.2%per year. About 18% of total funding of health expenditure now comes out of the pocket of the patient.
