Fr Nigel Sequeira was born in Dar-Es-Salaam Tanzania. His family moved to Kuwait in 1975 where he studied for a year before going to a Christian boarding school in the foothills of the Himalayas in India. He went on to do a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing in Nicosia Cyprus.

In 1989 he moved to Kuwait where he worked for a private company shortly before Suddam Hussein’s invasion of Kuwait. He remained in Kuwait during this time and did voluntary work for the Red Cross. Towards the end of the war he began working as a news producer and cameraman for one of the world’s leading news agencies Reuters. In 2004 he left Reuters and did volunteer work with a Catholic Television Channel in Ireland.

In came to Australia and joined the formation program at the Holy Spirit Seminary to prepare for ordained ministry for the Archdiocese of Brisbane. During this time he received a Bachelor of Theology and Master of Arts (Theology) at the Australian Catholic University.

In 2010 Nigel spent his pastoral training year at the Southport Catholic Parish. In November 2010 he was ordained to the diaconate and then in early 2011 began his placement at St Mary’s Parish Beaudesert. He will begin in the Grovely/ Mitchelton Parishes as a newly ordained priest at the end of July.
