A discussion with someone who has every reason to know this morning included an observation that too many people lived their lives thinking they can do anything they like to their bodies but they expect the hospital and medical system to pick them up and look after them when the inevitable consequences hit.
Australia spends an enormous proportion of its health budget on people in the last 6 months of their life.
If we eat like there’s no tomorrow; drink alcohol like there’s no tomorrow; smoke cigarettes; take drugs; drive like there’s no tomorrow and simply fail to lead a prudent life why should we expect the rest of the world to think our health matters????
Let’s all start taking a whole heap more responsibility for our own health and well-being. We don’t have to be fat and unhealthy. It’s up to us to look after ourselves.
