Pretty well every house around here has a garage and workshops are common.
Jim builds model airplanes in his workshop. He is building a quarter scale tiger moth out of balsa and cloth. Also a mosquito bomber. He’s built lots of planes which his son takes out to fly.
Edwin makes tiny hot air engines all beautifully machined to scale.
Lloyd carves wooden figures.
John designs and builds wooden boats and does electronics. He’s also designed children’s furniture and made a set for each grandchild.
There’d be as many different hobbies as there are men in sheds!
