The key question for us here in The Grove is: What is local?
When the Federal Government talks about ‘Local Hospital Networks’ and ‘Medicare Locals’ what do they mean by ‘local’?
‘Local’ could mean a centre in Strathpine with no public transport from here to there and a long distance in between.
It could mean we are a long way from the centre of consultation.
We are already suffering considerable disadvantage from being at the fringe of Brisbane City Council and a long way from both the Federal electoral offices for The Grove (Ryan and Dickson).
We need to be part of the discussion about what is local and where services are located.
