The Smith Family has done a survey to identify people who are economically disadvantaged. Residents of Upper Kedron are the most economically disadvantaged in north Brisbane (largest percentage of people on low-income health care cards and pensions).
11 families in Upper Kedron Keperra and Everton Park are taking part in a program run by The Smith Family to help them manage their money and debt. It is called the 10-month Saver Plus program. Participants save $50 each month and at the end of the program the ANZ Bank matches the savings to go towards the children’s education costs.
To be eligible participants must hold a Centrelink Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card have regular work and be caring for a child.
