
It can sometimes be easier to fix older electronic equipment because many of the components are ‘generic’ and replacements can be sourced on-line or from a local electronics supplier. Later models often use proprietary components that are not readily available. The international ‘Right to Repair’ movement is working to change this. Service manuals and circuit diagrams can also be difficult to find and intense concentration is often needed to figure out what is wrong and how to fix it. That’s what our volunteer fixers bring to the party.
