On a recent walk along our Kedron Brook track I noticed that the newly installed BBQ in Wahminda park was not working and that the rubbish bin by the old picnic shelter in Maureen Lawrence park remained unemptied and overflowing after slowly filling up over several months.
I felt some concern that these faclities might become neglected under the newly amalgamated Moreton Bay egional Council because they are on the fringe of such a large area and so far from the control centre.
When I reported both matters to the council through their normal channels I received a very courteous response and was issued with a reference number for each item in case I needed to follow up.
Within a couple of days an ‘Out of Service’ notice had been attached to the BBQ and a couple of days after that the BBQ was fixed the rubbish bin replaced with a new ‘possum-proof’ one and the picnic table painted to eradicate the graffiti with which it had become encrusted.
These items are now clearly on the maintenance list. One of the things that government at all levels can do for us is operate well designed systems that work efficiently.
Well done MBRC!
