“It is likely that water restrictions will apply no more than once every 25 years.”

The SEQ Water Grid is an integrated system increasing the region’s supply capacity to 480000 megalitres/year and climate resilient water sources to 25% of total supply.

SEW Water Grid bulk water assets now include:
[ul]12 connected dams
10 connected drinking water treatment plants
3 advanced water treatment plants
1 desalination plant on the Gold Coast (133 megalitres/day capacity)
28 water reservoirs
22 bulk water pump stations
535 kilometres of potable bulk water mains[/ul]

The SEQ Water Grid Manager is a government-owned statutory body whose role is to manage the SEQ Water Grid to maintain water security and quality for the region cost-effectively while balancing the needs of the community and the environment.

Seqwater is South East Queensland’s bulk water supply provider.

WaterSecure supplies water through the desalination plant and recycling scheme. Recycled water is currently supplied to Swanbank and Tarong power stations with the capacity to supply industry and agriculture. If Wivenhoe Dam levels fall below 40% it is intended to top up the dams with this recycled water. Recycled water (called purified water)is water from the SEQ sewerage system that has been purified and treated.

LinkWater is the QLD Bulk Water Transport Authority in charge of potable bulk water pipelines and related infrastructure.
