In times of great catastrophe such as the recent QLD floods we need our leaders to model grieving on communication channels such as television.

We need Premier Anna Bligh to stand before us with tears streaming down her cheeks racked by sobs of deep grief. We need to see our leaders holding and being held in the comforting arms of others.

We have talked to quite a few leaders recently who have been out in the flood zone among all the havoc and distress and they are very deeply touched by it. They need to mourn.

Reading reports and stories out verbatim on the radio is deeply moving. We sit there with tears running down our cheeks while we do it.

We all need to grieve and mourn. Our loss of sense of stability and being able to take our environment for granted. The loss of lives so suddenly and absolutely. Loss of mattresses and microwaves. Loss for so many of a game plan for tomorrow. Loss of abundance as we shoulder the cost.
