Northern Catchments Netw ork in partnership w ith
Moreton Bay Coastcare w ill begin monitoring
water quality in the northern creek catchments
area of Brisbane. The aim of this project is to
def ine the ambient w ater quality in-situ in relat ion
to a range of parameters and land uses relevant
to w ater quality of the region.
This w ill be achieved by establishing base line
data of the w ater quality in the catchments of
Dow nfall/Nundah Nudgee Cabbage Tree Litt le
Cabbage Tree Bald Hills and Albany Creeks.
We w ill be part of a community netw ork collecting
water quality data to assist w ith better
management of w aterways and groundw ater
across South East Queensland. Our data w ill be
collected by South East Queensland Catchments
Ltd entered onto a data base w hich will be
available for all to read.
Informat ion collected is used to raise the
aw areness of surface and ground water
conditions ident ify areas for remediat ion validate
existing data and to assist local councils w ith their
monthly monitoring programs.
The monitoring w ill be done w ith a Horiba Meter
granted to Moreton Bay Coastcare by the
Community Gambling Benef its Fund. Training in
the use of this meter w ill be provided to anyone
wishing to volunteer for the program. The
monitoring has to be done monthly and preferably
at the same time each month.
