Ferny Grove Transport Hub Progress
The line duplication from Keperra to Ferny Grove is progressing faster than expected with the completion date brought forward four years to 2012. The major construction work on the Ferny Grove rail station precinct has now begun with the addition of a temporary third platform. Following the receipt of community feedback the final design of the Ferny Grove railway station and bus interchange is almost completed.
During the construction the number of available car parks will fluctuate and at certain times parking options will be more limited than at present. When completed next year the new station and bus interchange will host spaces for around one thousand cars.
A major win for pedestrians and cyclists travelling from Ferny Grove and Upper Kedron will be the addition of a new pathway linking Archdale Road and Lanita Road to the station. The
improvements for cyclists will be underpinned by 180 new spaces for bikes in lockers cages and racks as well as personal lockers and end-of-ride shower facilities.
