Are you getting a chance to enjoy the fantastic weather this week? Clear sunny days with pleasant temperatures.

I hope you have a chance to get out into the garden or out on the water or out in parks or our bushland. This is such a special time of year.

Our program today has something for those of you who are interested in health. We’ll be talking with a local fitness instructor Nick Elson of northside Fitness and we’ll also be talking about making sense of breast cancer statistics.

Then we’ll consider some contradictions. Some of the big issues we face aren’t simple are they. It’s all very well to take a one-sided black and white position but the world is facing hugely challenging problems that have profound ethical considerations and force us into hard choices some of which are no-win. Some of these problems are what is called ‘wicked problems’. We don’t have a chance of dealing with them by thinking simplistically and short-term.

So we’ll talk about three today briefly:
[ul]Population growth in SE QLD – the advantages vs the disadvantages
Consumerism vs the new frugality and saving
Oil vs gas vs food security[/ul]
