Before the Ferny Grove Station parking was extended I often saw pair of [b]bush stone curlews[/b] in the rough ground around the unused tail end of the train track. Sometimes they had a go at me if walked through that area.
I assumed that they had departed when the parking was extended but I saw one on Conavalla Street as I was driving back from the station late one night recently.
Today I took a walk around the area but there was no sign of a nesting site where they used to be.
I wonder if anyone else has spotted where they live now? They’re not all that easy to see.
