A local reckons it takes two minutes 10 seconds on average for the Dawson Parade rail crossing lights from when they start flashing to when cars can move again.

This would be tricky to measure to get an average! But I guess the point he is making is that it is a frustratingly long wait for people sitting in cars waiting to cross the intersection.

More population will only increase the problem. Higher oil prices might reduce it though!
