A community garden group has now been incorporated as a not-for-profit in this area. It is called The Hills District Community Garden Group Inc.
It is for residents of the broader area of The Grove as well as The Hills: Upper Kedron Ferny Grove Ferny Hills Arana Hills Keperra.
The group has a discussion forum for its members on the [url=http://brisbanelocalfood.ning.com/]Brisbane Local Food Ning[/url].
Initially it is starting with a garden at the Patricks Rd State School at the Pre-school. The group is getting excellent support from the Patricks Rd P&C. The process for getting the garden going at Patricks Rd can also be picked up by other local schools.
There is interest in establishing some larger allotment-style gardens in other parts of the local area once the group gets initial experience working together.
People joining Transition The Grove on this website and expressing an interest in Food & Garden are being given information about The Hills District Community Garden Inc as it looks like being the vehicle for community gardens to happen locally.
Cr Brian Battersby is supporting it and Cr Andrew Wines in BCC looks like he will too which is great.
