Population-campaigner Kelvin Thomson MP argues that every country in the world must take responsibility for stabilising its own population so that births = deaths in each country. Every country including Australia should be asked to do no more and no less than this. This is a much more equitable task that dealing with the difference between developed and developing countries on climate change.

Australia can help promote this as a global program through its AusAID program. Help people to live sustainably where they are not try to flee to here if they have overpopulated and destroyed their own countries.

If every country gets its population to a level that is sustainable within the ecosystem and borders of that country the pressure of environmental refugees would reduce.

Environmental factors play a big part in driving refugees to our shores. If every country took responsibility for getting its population to a sustainable number the pressure on its food and water supply would stop being the problem it is.
