Think about marriage in the context of resilience. Think about the contribution strong marriages make to stable communities. Think about the contribution strong marriages make to raising children successfully. Think about the contribution strong marriages make to the health and wealth of couples and the community. It would be good to dig out strong research data on this topic. How important is the role of marriage to resilience? What position historically have communities that have survived (resilient communities) taken to marriage? How would they have treated same-sex unions in comparison to marriage between a man and a woman with procreation?
