Just some thoughts responding to the morning… it was wonderful to meet our Transition Gap neighbours and others involved in the Yoorala St Community Garden and to share ideas. The community garden at an old pony club is designed in a circular shape. Kids playground in the middle individual plots in two concentric circles and communal fruit trees on one side and communal vegetables on the other. Communal herbs and flowers are at the entrance. It looks incredible. Also met Chris Wright who mentioned that Michelle and Colin Peile are the ones to contact about the garden. They also meet at the adjacent bush tucker garden on Sat at 3pm. Also met Bob from Northey St farm who said guided tours are available any day except Monday. He said the best way to organise this was to go to their website: www.nscf.org.au. If the tour was on a Tues or a Fri he offered to run an environmental art class afterward.
Ann E and I thought it might be good for interested “Grovers” to meet and work out potential sites for a garden. Also a link with Northey St might be good.
