Wow! It was a great workshop. Rainy dark night but somehow people all came along and it just worked. None of us had ever done this thing before imagining the future looking back from 2030 but the ideas that people came up with were really full of insights.
There were sets of questions and lots of different groups each considering one topic (food business heart & soul education energy transport health & medicine buildings)
Education thought there would be quite a big move back from private schools well away from where we live back to local schools or even well-educated parents forming groups to help with schooling.
With health it seemed like we have a model now that is so deeply built on big hospitals and an ethic of saving life at all costs and high tech that as fuel supply tightens hard somewhere down the track we will be faced with almost existential choices about our priorities in this area. On the positive side a lot higher levels of physical activity and less highly processed foods could result in a big immediate health improvements.
Everyone agreed local community would become much stronger and more a feature of our lives.
