An olden days memory: Christmas was when we had chook. The only time. The chook would be caught in the backyard with a crabbing net. It’s head cut off. The feathers plucked and the guts drawn out. The traditional stuffing made. The chook would be rubbed with flour and put in a brown paper bag and covered in dripping to cook. Chooks were very special in those days.
