Moreton Bay Regional Council now offers free yellow sharps containers in the special bins at their Bunya waste facility sites (and also at the Caboolture Dakabin & Redcliffe sites).
Full containers can be disposed of for free when you pick up your new container. This service is to discourage sharps being dumped into wheelie bins.
