Congratulations to St William’s Catholic Primary School at Grovely for being the March winner of the Golden Boot award in Council’s Active School Travel Program
St William’s averaged an impressive 85% on their active travel days in March. It’s a great result considering they had only 16% of students active travelling to school before… implementing the AST program. They started off strong on their initial “Put your feet on the street and travel together Thursday” and maintained the momentum.
Here’s a few things they did to achieve success:
* Signs at school entrances and at the Stop Drop and Go
* SMS to all parents
* Flyer to all parents with list of park and stride places (sent to OSHC too)
* Email to teachers about putting something in their weekly newsletter and homework diaries
* Balloons around the school on walk day and bulletin boards
Great work St William’s and good luck for the rest of the year!
