The story: Emissions from energy last week fell by 1.5% due largely to a reduction in emissions from petroleum.

Compared with:
Last week:
* Total emissions fell by 1.5% or 23000 tonnes due largely to a reduction in emissions from petroleum.
* Emissions from coal-fired generation which accounted for 77% of electricity generation fell by 0.6% or 5000 tonnes.
* Emissions from gas were virtually the same as last week.
* Emissions from petroleum fell by 3.3% or 18000 tonnes.
* Electricity demand grew by 2.1%.
* QLD exported 9.3% of its electricity generation to other states compared to 10% the previous week.
Last year:
* This week’s indicator is 4.9% lower than the same week in 2010.
* Total emissions to this stage of 2011 were 4.3% lower than at the similar stage last year.
